Well, another terribly early morning sitting in the airport.
You get kind of used to it. This particular morning I am making the trip home from Brookfield, MO, yet again. Final time there, unless they want extra training, and I'm happy to leave feeling that they are in good shape. We were even able to wrap up one day early, which was great, since it meant I can come home early. So I moved my flight up to 6:00 AM.
Unfortunately, this particular locale also happens to be 2.5 hours away from the airport. Which means that for a 6:00 AM flight, I need to be up around 2:00 AM. Now, a normal person might compensate for this by going to be early, but I don't fare so well at this. I was proud just being able to shut my eyes at 11:00 PM, which will make for a very weary first day back.
Anyways, the drive and check in are uneventful, though surprisingly busy for being so early. I guess that comes from it being a holiday weekend, or at least the weekend before a holiday.
The best part,... Read More » | By Scott on 6/12/2007
Ahhhh, home.
It's nice to be home. Had a very uninteresting flight back this past Friday, other than the fact that it was substantially earlier than I had originally planned. Since Sarah was feeling down, I'd planned to do a few nice things for her this weekend. So I dug back through her blog and found her old post about things for her Birthday. Using that I ordered some things from Sephora and Numi Tea's for her. Then I got the early flight (Had to get up at 2:00 AM to head down there! Ugh) and came home so I could do the grocery shopping and clean the house.
Unfortunately, I'm kinda slow at cleaning the house, so I'd only finished a few rooms before Sarah made it home. Plus, the stuff I ordered didn't come until Monday, and our weekend was rained out so I didn't get to prepare the picnic for Sarah on Saturday.
However Sarah saved the day! She helped finish the cleaning with me, and made the picnic into a basement picnic with a movie. And she still liked the stuff, even if it came... Read More » | By Scott on 6/7/2007
Ha ha! Finished!
Wrapped up at the client a little earlier this evening. Things ended on a solid note, we got a lot of training done and it seemed like it was clicking a little bit more. Really, most every one but the main guy seems to be getting it pretty solidly. Hopefully with some pratice he'll feel solid on it too though!
Now comes the down time. I'm done for the week, tomorrow will be spent flying back, so I'm relegated to just sitting around and waiting to leave tomorrow. There are a few work related things that I can take care of, but nothing that will consume me all night, so it's bound to be rather dull. Luckily I just picked up a new Dean Koontz book, "The Good Guy", so I can finish that off and watch a little TV while packing.
Sarah is feeling a bit down. Hopefully going out with a few friends this afternoon will cheer her up, but if not I'm planning a few things this weekend and early next week that should make her feel better. And if Sarah happens to be reading this...... Read More » | By Scott on 6/6/2007
Huzzah!
I managed to get the Blog working! That means Sarah can start using her's again, which is pretty nifty, since I enjoy reading it. (http://www.sarahmiddleton.com... *nudge nudge*)
Turns out it was a painfully simple thing (Isn't it always in retrospect?). In the ASCX file for the EditEntry control, there was a misspelling by the developer, he named "Resource" as "Resourcé". Such a small error, one bloody character, and it caused the thing to not work for TWO MONTHS.
*sigh*
Anyways, I'm sitting here in the middle of Brookfield, MO. Lovely little town with nothing to do at all, but sit in the hotel room and either work, play games, or watch television. Only thing to eat is at the Wal-Mart across the street, or McDonalds if you are feeling unhealthy. So it gets pretty boring.
I'm not sure whether to be challenged or frustrated by the client though. They are by far the hardest training experience I've ever had. I have... Read More » |
